The Wessex Training programme for Rheumatology
has been established for many years and offers training in
Rheumatology alone (4 year training programme).
or Rheumatology in combination with General
Internal Medicine (5 year training programme). The training
programme has an entry level at ST3.
The Wessex Rheumatology programme provides
trainees with exposure to all aspects of the rheumatology
curriculum and training in pure Rheumatology is provided by
Southampton, Portsmouth, Bournemouth, Poole and Winchester.
Posts recognised for dual accreditation in Rheumatology and General
Internal Medicine are provided at the Isle of Wight, Salisbury,
Basingstoke and Southampton. There is also opportunity to gain some
experience in paediatric rheumatology in many of our posts within

within the Wessex Region and for the past 5 years Rheumatology in
Wessex has been allocated academic clinical fellow posts. A
high percentage of Wessex Rheumatology trainees complete higher
degrees and there is a good final placement record from our
training programme, including academic placements. All posts
