Core Surgical Training Forum

To increase the profile of the Wessex Core Training programme the first Core Surgical Training Forum was organised by the Wessex School of Surgery in July 2012. This took the form of a one day meeting and was held at the offices of the Wessex Deanery in Otterbourne.

All Core Trainees were requested to submit abstracts and 35 trainees delivered a 10 minute presentation on a piece of research or audit project they had undertaken in the previous 12 months. This forum was attended by the Head of School, Training Programme Director and Surgical Tutors who moderated the event throughout the day.

A prize for the best presentation and paper was sponsored by the Wessex Deanery in the form of funding for an educational course relevant to their chosen specialty. An evening dinner was held after the event.
