Advanced Training Skills Module

Application Process |

"It is important to choose ATSMs based on the kind of consultant post that the trainee would like to do, bearing in mind the likely job descriptions of the posts to be appointed to in the next few years.”

The process of ATSM training in the Wessex Deanery for NTN holders is outlined below.

Careers advice can be obtained from the ATSM director by appointment, your Educational Supervisor or locality career lead.

Application Process
During ST5, trainees will need to choose their ATSMs.
Wessex will now be operating a competitive process to allocate ATSMs within the region.
Trainees will be ranked using three criteria with equal weighting.

  • Evidence from application (including CV/references)
  • Educational Supervisors supporting document
  • Interview process

The trainees current Educational Supervisor will be requested to comment following receipt of the application form.

The ATSM Director, Preceptors and Educational Supervisors will be available for advice and assistance with the process.

The Interview will be a formal process.

Where a trainee is unable to commence a chosen ATSM, possible alternatives will be discussed and agreed in January in order to allow time for any changes to be made.
