Project Title: SAS Doctor Development and Appraisal (No poster on file)

  • Location of Project: Solent NHS Trust
  • Summary: The aim of this piece of work was to ensure that the SAS Doctor Appraisal is efficacious in how Appraisers address SAS development and CESR issues, and that SAS Doctors are satisfied with this process. Work included a 20 minute power point presentation to raise the awareness of specific SAS issues and highlight the role of the Appraiser in addressing SAS development/CESR issues and the introduction and dissemination of the Toolkit for Appraisers. Results showed an increased awareness and confidence in these issues.  Next steps include sustained evidence of improvement to be gathered from collation of the Trust’s Appraisal Feedback at the end of the appraisal season in October 2018 and to share the work with other Trusts.

Project Title: Neurointensive Care Practice Development Team; Team working to achieve excellence (Link to poster)

  • Summary: In 2016 the Neuro ICU Practice Development Team (PDT) undertook a SWOT analysis of our practice area.  This identified workforce, operational and environmental challenges that in an ever-changing , complex environment threatened the delivery and sustainability of safe care, the ability to innovate and the future security of the workforce. The 2017 Wessex Quality Improvement Fellowship supported the PDT to explore its role and develop new ways to address these challenges
