Wessex GP is split into four local patches, each patch has its own website that can be reached by clicking on the link (opens in a new window). Your local patch depends on where you work; if you are a locum it is based on where you live.

 

  • Mid-Wessex (encompassing Winchester, Salisbury and Basingstoke)
  • Southampton (encompassing Southampton, the New Forest and Jersey)
  • Portsmouth (encompassing Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight)
  • Dorset (encompassing Bournemouth, Poole and Dorchester)

To work as a GP in Wessex you must:

  • Be on the National Medical Performers List
  • Have a GMC certificate
  • Have professional indemnity
  • Have an up to date BLS certificate (last 15 months)
  • Have MRCGP if you have qualified after 2008

 

Don’t forget to register with the Local Medical Committee (LMC)  (likely included if salaried/partner, £100pa if a locum) and get yourself registered with a GP.
