Have you tried our A to Z Section?
Wessex Deanery Appraisal and Revalidation Service provides a full appraisal service to NHS Bournemouth and Poole, NHS Dorset, NHS Portsmouth, NHS Hampshire and Jersey Primary Care Body, as well as a proportion of appraisals on Guernsey. As a Deanery based provider, we pride ourselves on the high quality of our appraisers and the high standards of training and support we offer for both appraisers and appraisees. We are currently (2011) one of the biggest single primary care appraisal providers in England (with about 2000 appraisees) and we aspire to be the best. In a continued effort to develop and improve our service, the dedicated appraisal and revalidation team at Otterbourne welcome your feedback.

The important developments nationally for 2011 include the results of the Revalidation Support Team pathfinder pilots and the continuing consultation on “Medical Appraisal for Revalidation”. The latest version of the “RCGP Guide to Revalidation for GPs” can be found on the Service’s revalidation pages.
“Medical Appraisal for Revalidation” sets out a format for appraisal, within which the twin purposes: of supporting personal and professional development in a confidential and appraisee centred discussion; and helping appraisees to gather the required supporting information that will allow them to revalidate successfully, can be fulfilled within a single process. We recognise that for the vast majority of doctors, demonstrating that they are up to date and fit to practise will not be difficult. The challenge is to make the process worthwhile. Appraisal should promote personal and professional growth, by providing an annual opportunity to reflect and facilitating the construction of a suitable Personal Development Plan.
