Academic Foundation Programmes

Shortlisting

A woman filling out a formShortlisted applicants will receive a email from the Foundation School team during the week commencing 25th November 2019  with information and arrangements regarding their interview. 

Please note that we do not allow the use of telephone, Skype or video interviews in our application process.

 

 

Interview Details

 

The Wessex Foundation School will hold interviews for all 13 academic foundation programmes on the above dates. There will be a limit on the number of applicants who can attend each date. Interview dates will be offered on a first come first served basis.  Each candidate will be interviewed by a clinical and communication skills panel and two academic panels and they must pass both sections of the clinical and communication simulation interview station in  addition to the academic stations.

Interview travel expenses can be paid for applicants, subject to a limit of £100. 
Please read the information on our interview expenses guidance webpage. A claim form will be sent electronically to candidates who are invited to interview. Claim forms must be typed, printed and manually signed. 

Completed forms and receipts must be sent to the Wessex Foundation School, Southern House, Otterbourne, SO21 2RU. 

Handwritten claim forms and forms received after the deadline date shown will not be accepted.

Offers Process

Following all local interviews, the national offer process begins on 15th  January 2020.
Successful candidates will receive an email from Oriel with an offer of an academic foundation programme. In addition successful applicants will receive a letter directly from the Wessex Foundation School with full details of the academic programme offered.

Applicants have two working days to accept or reject any offer(s) made to them. If the applicant does not accept or reject the offer within this period, it will be assumed they have rejected the offer and it will be withdrawn.

A cascade process will be run until 12th February 2020 to appoint to any unfilled AFP vacancies. Applicants should refer to the full timeline in the UKFPO applicant handbook.
 

AFP Recruitment Feedback Process

Wessex Foundation School follow our own local process which is detailed below. Applicants who request feedback by telephone will be referred back to this page.

Shortlisting Feedback

All applicants who request feedback will be provided with the following information:

  • Overall Score
  • Minimum score to be shortlisted.


The Wessex Foundation School is unable to give you feedback on the content of your application.

Interview Feedback

Following interviews all candidates who request feedback will be provided with the following standard information:

  • Breakdown of scores (station scores)
  • Overall score
  • Rank
  • Minimum score to be appointed.

 

If you require copies of interview score sheets these can be provided on request.

If you require any additional feedback other than that listed above you will need to complete a Data Protection 1998 - Subject Access Request Form (Word)

Requests for feedback will only be accepted in writing between the following dates:  6th - 28th February 2020. All requests will be completed within 40 calendar days as outlined in the Data Protection Act 1998.   

The Wessex Foundation School retains all recruitment information for a period of 13 months following interview.  After this time all recruitment material, other than statistics, is destroyed.

AFP Recruitment Complaints Procedure

The Foundation School will adopt the Wessex Recruitment Complaints process document which can be found under the guidelines and procedures area of our website.
