Recognition of Supervisors courses

Recognition of Supervisor courses are specifically designed to support Health Education England (Wessex) Educational and Clinical Supervisors in training junior doctors.

Doctors of all specialties can train to obtain a role as an Educational and/or Clinical Supervisor once they reach Associate Specialist or Consultant grade. Specialist Training Registrars within 6 months of their CCT date can also train in preparation for obtaining these roles following promotion, but cannot practice until they reach the required grade.

As we learn from experience it is designed to be interactive and practical. Regular feedback shows that it is also highly enjoyable.

Those wishing to become a newly recognised Health Education England (Wessex) educational and clinical supervisor should attend the two-day Recognition of Supervisors: The Essentials course. Those wishing to gain recognition as a named clinical supervisor should attend the Recognition of Supervisors: Named Clinical Supervisor Development Course.

Please click here for further information on the GMC Recognition of Supervisors process and information on how to remain recognised.

Delegates can attend a Recognition of Supervisors: The Refresher event between three and five years after their previous recognition, if they wish to use it to contribute towards their eight hours face-to-face CPD training. If delegates exceed the five year period and do not reach the 10 hours of CPD they are expected to attend the two-day Recognition of Supervisors: The Essentials course in order to update their recognition.

Other courses

Recognised educational and clinical supervisors can also compliment their learning by attending one or more of the following courses:
